History

1902

Thisted Bryghus was established in the buildings of the newly built, but collapsed Thisted Aktiebryggeri.

1907

Thisted Bryghus takes over two minor soft drink facilities.

1927

Direct sales to private costumers is stopped, due to complaints from local grocery shops.

1951

For the first time, the annual production exceeds 2 million bottles - half sweet soda half lager beers.

1955

Poul Reitzel starts his 26 years as managing director of the brewery.

1971

This years general assembly was a bit depressed. Due to big investments in plastic crates, the brewery didn’t offer food, but only beer, coffee and one pastry for the shareholders.

1981

Certified Brewmaster Peter Klemensen is hired as brewmaster and managing director by the brewery.

1982

First seasonal beer for Christmas Thy Julebryg was launched by the brewery – sold out 4 weeks before Christmas.

1984

Porse Guld - an export Lager in which the hops are partly replaced by local herb ”Porse” is launched on the market with good response.

1989

Thisted Bryghus release to the market Limfjords-Porter – a brand name required from other local brewery Urban 3 years earlier.

1995

Organic Thy Pilsner is released as the first organic beer in Denmark.

1999

The number of share holders at the Annual Assembly for the first time ever exceeds 1000 people.

2002

The brewery celebrates the first 100 years

2009

New management. After 28 years Peter Klemensen is replaced as manager by Aage Svenningsen, and new brewmaster is Henrik Sørensen.

2012

New brewmaster Antoni Aagaard Madsen.

2012

The brewery celebrates its 110th anniversary

2015

In the years 2015 and 2016 Thisted Bryghus releases more than 15 new beers of many different styles. Among them 3 “New Nordic” beers brewed without hops. First Cold Hawaii beer is released together with the surfer city of Klitmøller.

Thisted Bryghus is by Danske Ølentusiaster named Danish Brewery of the Year

2016

Whisky infused Jack & Beer is released, and chosen among more than 1400 new beers as new Danish beer of the year.
