Thagaard is named after Lauritz Thagaard, who’s mission it was to prevent spreading of the dunes, by planting trees and bushes to create shelter for the fiery western winds.
He attempted, though with limited success, to plant birch trees in the sandy soil, and still today, you can visit a 200 years old birch tree, planted close to Lauritz’ house.
The leaves of the birch tree adds a certain spicyness not unlike like peppermint to the aroma, and combined with a fresh orange/citrus aroma from pine sprouts, the result is a very different , but at the same time delicious and refreshing beer.
Recommended with lighter meats, spice.
Thagaard har en helt særlig liflig friskhed, som gør denne øl specielt velegnet som ledsager til retter med lyst kød og friske salater.
